Headstart: Senator Panfilo Lacson on Thursday, May 28, clarified that his viral tweet saying “It’s the rules stupid!” was not meant as a personal insult toward Senator Rodante Marcoleta, saying the phrase was merely an idiomatic expression.
Lacson explained that the statement was similar to common English expressions such as “keep it simple, stupid” and “break the ice,” stressing that it should not be interpreted literally.
According to Lacson, his point was to emphasize the importance of focusing on Senate rules during the debate, particularly after Marcoleta invoked legal arguments on the issue.
