Gardenia shifts bakery production from Singapore to Malaysia, 141 staff retrenched

Bread maker Gardenia is moving its bakery production from Singapore to Johor Bahru, Malaysia. It means that 141 employees at its Pandan Loop facility will be retrenched when production stops on Jun 30. In a media release, Gardenia said the move is aimed at improving “operational efficiency”. Affected workers will receive notice and support in line with local guidelines, with help from the Food, Drinks and Allied Workers Union.
