AI is transforming how we work and learn — but our most powerful technology is still the human mind. This talk explores how adaptability, empathy, and collaboration will define success in the age of artificial intelligence. Drawing on a journey from lawyer to academic leader and England dodgeball player, Brett shows how the same qualities that drive high-performing teams; resilience, communication, and trust can help us navigate an unpredictable, AI-driven world. “The Human Edge” challenges us to see technology not as competition, but as a catalyst for reimagining what it means to be human at work. Brett Koenig is the Associate Head of Law at De Montfort University, where he leads innovation in AI and education. Before entering academia, Brett practised as a lawyer and also represented England internationally in dodgeball, serving as the current captain. These experiences shaped his commitment to resilience, teamwork, and adaptability. His work explores how technology and pedagogy can create opportunity, support social mobility, and redefine learning and success in an AI-driven world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
