Amid conversations about Alberta separation, many are faced with uncertainty and what it would mean for businesses, particularly in a place such as Lloydminster – a border city that resides between Alberta and Saskatchewan. “For us as a business it will be completely different regulations, and a lot of different red tape to get through, but for a consumer, there's a lot to consider. Are we going to need a passport to go five miles out of town? Different currency? Does the Canadian money stop here and now it’s a different currency?” Lloydminster real estate agent Michael Dewing said. “It affects my business no matter where I show property in the region, because we work in 5,000 square miles around the city on both sides of the border,” Dewing added.
