In China, optical fiber manufacturers are seeing a surge in demand and prices.
Those in the industry say the arrival of AI has changed the game for the optical fiber sector.
An optical cable manufacturing enterprise in east China's Suzhou City noted that previously, the bulk of their client base was made up of telecom operators. That's very different from their current client roster.
According to a report from research group, the Observatory of Economic Complexity, last year China exported 3.2 billion U.S. dollars of optical fibers and cables, with their top export destinations being the U.S. and Mexico.
