Tucked deep in the Taihang Mountains in central China's Henan Province, the cliffside village of Guoliang has become a thriving tourism destination since it was first featured in cinema more than 30 years ago.
Welcoming over a million visitors a year, the village has seen its popularity grow since 1991 when it appeared in the film Bell of Purity Temple.
Since then, the village and its famous “hanging cliff highway” have been in more than 60 movies and today is a destination for set jetting tourists eager to see it in real life.
The village is home to movie-inspired guesthouses and inns decorated with classic film motifs.
Taking advantage of its film sets and cinema resources, the village also puts on theatrical performances and immersive dramas about local history.
