Senate Republicans have advanced a $70 billion spending bill to fund immigration and customs enforcement through the end of President Donald Trump’s term, marking a big win for the Trump administration.
The bill comes after weeks of backlash over the Department of Justice’s $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund set up to benefit rioters who participated in the Jan. 6 insurrection.
“It's clear to Americans that Republicans who refuse to outlaw Donald Trump's $2 billion slush fund. Now the whole country can see the truth.” Democrat Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said.
