Ivan Kobiakovski grew up constantly moving between countries, schools, languages, and environments, never staying in one place long enough to build the kind of shared memories that make people feel they belong. In this personal and reflective talk, he explores the quiet loneliness of living without a shared past and the feeling of always arriving after everyone else’s story has already begun.
After years of adapting to new cultures and rebuilding his life from scratch, Ivan realized that connection does not always come from shared history, but from presence, curiosity, and the willingness to build something together in the present. This talk is for everyone who has ever felt outside of a conversation, disconnected, or unsure where they belong, and a reminder that meaningful connection can begin even when nothing familiar is shared yet. Ivan is a university student. He tries to stay active and keep a consistent routine, with a strong interest in action sports and fitness. He enjoys pushing himself physically and spending time moving, whether training or staying outdoors and engaged. Alongside that, he works on creative and digital projects, especially ideas he can build from scratch. He is always looking for simple ways to improve, stay disciplined, and keep growing both physically and mentally. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
