影片說明
In 1954, Finnish medical student Matti A. Jokinen traveled across Europe and found himself standing beneath one of the world’s most iconic peaks — the Matterhorn in Zermatt. Soon after, he stood on its summit.
That moment sparked something unexpected: the birth of Finnish climbing.
Cold Rock (2015) tells the remarkable story of how a climbing culture developed in a country with no mountains, where cliffs are hidden in dense forests and winters freeze the rock for nearly half the year.
Through stories from multiple generations of climbers, the film traces more than 60 years of climbing history in Finland, from its humble beginnings to the rise of world-class athletes like Nalle Hukkataival.
Despite the challenges of geography and climate, Finnish climbers built a thriving scene fueled by passion, perseverance, and a love for the sport.
This documentary connects the past and present, revealing how the spirit of adventure continues to inspire climbers across generations.
