Despite strict rules requiring identity checks, numbered tickets, and a limit of one timepiece per person, multiple buyers managed to leave with several bags. Outside the stores, many admitted their sole intention was to immediately resell the high-demand pocket watches for three to four times the retail price. In Italy, things also turned violent when a fight broke out between shoppers and store security personnel, leading the company to warn that any queues exceeding fifty people would be paused.
