What if the most powerful tool for healing was free, always available, and hiding just outside your door? Award-winning photographer Judith Rae discovered this firsthand while navigating bankruptcy, loss, and a criminal case that led her to the FBI and the attorney general. In this deeply personal and research-backed talk, she shares how making time to play in nature gave her the peace, clarity, and courage to imagine a path forward and why science says it can do the same for you. Judith Rae is a multi-media artist, photographer, and community builder whose work centers on creativity, perseverance, and human connection. Raised between New York City and Brazil, Judith brings a global lens to stories of resilience and belonging. She became a mother at 13, a life-shaping experience that ignited her lifelong commitment to possibility, imagination, and courageous living. Judith is the creator of Women Who Surf, a documentary series exploring courage, culture, and healing through the ocean, and the co-creator and monthly host of Cultivate, a mastermind community for women entrepreneurs and creatives featuring inspiring guest speakers. Through visual storytelling, speaking, and community-based projects, Judith helps people reconnect to their inner vision and imagine best-case scenarios for their lives. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
