West Bengal’s Asansol witnessed tension after a dispute over loudspeaker rules at religious places turned violent. According to reports, police teams had reached Jahangiri Mohalla to inform locals about the state government’s new sound limit guidelines. During the discussion, an argument broke out and soon stone-pelting started. Police alleged that an angry mob attacked a police outpost and damaged vehicles and public property. Additional police force and RAF personnel were deployed to control the situation. So far, 7 people have been arrested and police say CCTV footage is being checked to identify others involved.
