Hateful graffiti has been found on a Pride crosswalk and on the gazebo outside town hall in Smiths Falls, Ontario, just as municipalities across eastern Ontario prepare to mark Pride Month. Mayor Shawn Pankow has condemned the vandalism in a public statement, saying the graffiti is "deeply disturbing" and "completely out of line with the values of Smiths Falls." Pankow says he is "beyond disappointed" by what he describes as an act of discrimination and intolerance, and that the town is working closely with the Smiths Falls Police Service to identify those responsible.
