Pikachu goes prehistoric at Pokemon Fossil Museum debut

Pokemon fans hoping to "catch them all" may want to head to Chicago's Field Museum, where the Pokemon Fossil Museum is officially making its North American debut. The interactive exhibition blends the worlds of Pokemon and paleontology, giving visitors the chance to compare fan-favorite Pokemon like Tyrantrum and Archeops with the real-life fossils. It has only been shown in Japan since launching in 2021. Organizers say bringing the experience to Chicago took two years of planning and coordination. Throughout the exhibition Field Museum scientists, reimagined as Pokémon Professors, set as illustrations help explain how actual fossils inspired some of the franchise’s most iconic creature designs.
