A major recent “Delhi AC case” in the news is the tragic Vivek Vihar fire incident in east Delhi. A massive fire broke out in a four-storey residential building.
Initial reports suggest that an air conditioner blast or an electrical short circuit may have triggered the fire.
According to police and fire officials, the fire spread quickly through several floors of the building during the early morning hours. Many residents were trapped, and rescue teams used ladders and balconies to evacuate people. Investigators are now checking whether faulty wiring, overheating, or an AC compressor explosion caused the blaze.
The incident has also started a wider discussion about AC safety during extreme summer heat in Delhi and NCR. Experts say poor maintenance, overloaded wiring, voltage fluctuations, and continuous AC use in high temperatures can increase fire risks.
Many people on social media are demanding stricter fire safety checks in residential buildings, especially older apartments where electrical systems may not handle heavy AC usage. The Delhi Police are even planning to use 3D mapping technology to reconstruct the fire scene and understand exactly how the tragedy happened.
