A fire has destroyed a historic Japanese temple building housing an “eternal flame”, believed to have burned continuously for more than 1,200 years. The blaze on Wednesday (May 20) tore through Reikado Hall, which is part of the Daishoin Temple on Miyajima Island in Hiroshima prefecture.
