HDR isn’t automatically “bad” — but on social media platforms it comes with two big problems: it can flashbang your eyes mid-scroll, and it often shows up with weird colors when you bring it into editors like Premiere or DaVinci
The irony is: what makes HDR “good” is also what causes the pain. High Dynamic Range captures brighter highlights and deeper shadows — then your phone boosts brightness so you can see that extra detail. In practice, it just makes the clip look overly bright, and different apps/devices interpret HDR differently… so colours can shift
Fix it:
* Instagram: Settings → Media Quality → turn off HDR Playback
* Best: turn off HDR Video in your phone camera settings
