Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney weighs in on reports the US and Iran have reached an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and extend a ceasefire by 60 days.
“We’re close to a deal, we’re going to get a deal, we’re on the verge of a deal, the Straits are going to open … we’ve heard that a dozen times in the last several weeks,” Mr Mulvaney told Sky News host James Morrow.
“Although it does feel like this is a little bit further down the road to a deal … I weigh that against the fact that there’s additional military operations overnight.
“While I think we’re closer to getting a ceasefire, say a 60-day ceasefire, I think we’re far from finished here yet because we don’t know all the details.”
