The Psychology of Laziness.
Maybe laziness isn’t what most people think it is. Most of us assume we avoid things because we’re unmotivated, undisciplined, or simply not built for hard work. But what if the problem starts earlier than that? What if the real habit is constantly calculating the effort before we even imagine the reward? You think about how exhausting the gym will feel, how long the project will take, how uncomfortable the conversation might be. And somewhere in that mental math, the outcome disappears. The weird part is that humans already know how to override this. We do hard things all the time when the payoff feels emotionally real enough. Maybe getting unstuck starts with shifting attention from the cost to the version of life sitting on the other side of the effort.
