Brushless power tools can sometimes continue operating even when submerged in non conductive liquids like diesel fuel. Since diesel does not carry electricity well, the live circuits avoid immediately shorting out while the sealed brushless motor prevents the sparks that traditional brushed motors can produce.
As the impact wrench spins, the diesel rapidly flushes dirt, grime, and debris out of the housing and moving components. The swirling liquid also creates the strange bubbling and vortex effect visible inside the bucket.
The real problem happens afterward. Diesel strips away the thick grease protecting the hammer mechanism and gearbox, leaving the internal metal parts running nearly dry. Without being disassembled and repacked with fresh impact grease, the tool can suffer rapid wear or complete failure.
