Tropical depression Ester made landfall over southwestern Taiwan at 10 a.m. Friday, according to PAGASA. It was located 230 km north northwest of Itbayat, Batanes at that time. Ester maintained its strength of 45 kph and gustiness of up to 55 kph. It is moving northeastward at 15 kph. Wind signal no. 1 remains in effect over Batanes.
